How to Calculate Acceleration from Force and Mass

How can we calculate acceleration based on the force applied and the mass of an object?

Understanding Acceleration, Force, and Mass

Acceleration is the rate at which the velocity of an object changes over time. It is calculated by dividing the force applied to an object by the mass of the object. The formula to calculate acceleration is:

a = F / m

Where: - a is the acceleration - F is the force applied to the object - m is the mass of the object

Calculation Example

For example, if a small child pulls a wagon with a force of 2 newton and the mass of the wagon is 10 kilograms, we can calculate the acceleration of the wagon using the formula:

a = F / m

a = 2 N / 10 kg

a = 0.2 m/s²

Therefore, the acceleration of the wagon is 0.2 m/s².
